Are There Any Good Website Teachers Out There?
Good website teachers seem to be in hiding or extinct. Maybe they were never there in the first place.
Where are the instructors who can take an average person and starting with zero knowledge of the Internet, lead them into good website building techniques?
I don’t know about the rest of you, but I strived for months to get into Internet marketing. I knew I would need knowledge of how to build websites, but I got very frustrated in trying to find someone who could teach to a total newbie.
It seems as though I joined or bought dozens of teaching courses that had all the right promises going in, but eventually didn’t deliver.
I knew almost nothing about computers except how to send emails, surf the Net and write a letter or two. The whole concept of building websites, learning computer code and uploading was seeming even more impossible to attain the longer I tried. I nearly quit trying on more than one occasion as the frustration level kept building.
Most people who claim to be website teachers start off assuming you know a lot about the whole process or skip basic steps along the way leaving the computer newbie in the dark.
Some of those self-appointed website teachers seemed to even cop an attitude about the process. They come across as though it was beneath them to stoop to a basic level of learning and insisted in talking in geek-speak, which left a lot of us behind.
One instructor in particular stood out in my mind. Though he shall remain nameless in this article, he considered himself a “newbie guru”.
In discussion with a student who was trying to help him understand that he could be much more effective if he’d tone down his high-minded method of teaching by speaking in plain English, he had the following to say:
“Don’t you tell me what the average Internet newbie needs. I OWN the newbies! I am a newbie God!”
That’s the attitude I’m talking about that some website teachers have about those trying to break into the Internet world. Who needs that?
The student who got the tongue-lashing was said to have keep his cool, but made up his mind right then and there to create a course of his own as soon as he could to cater to all the Internet newbies in the world that he could sense were there.
The fates must have been in my favor earlier this year, because just at the point when I was considering chucking the whole Internet thing, I met that former student. He had just launched his new course a few months earlier and hundreds were signing up just like he predicted.
Life became good again as I was now on a quick path to learning all about building and managing websites from the ground up. The one-time student who had turned into one of the best website teachers on the Internet had done a superior job of creating the school of his dreams. And now thousands of others will benefit!
