Model Matchsticks – How to Let the Kids Play With Matches Without Burning the House Down
Model matchsticks are a very safe way to keep the kids quiet. Whilst letting them play with matches it also teaches them skills such as design, construction, measuring and at the same time is an absorbing hobby and they won't burn the house down in the process as the matches have no phosphorous heads to ignite.
Model matchsticks may not make you a million dollars overnight. It is a really slow process, but it is a way of entering a different form of model making and the world of model making is huge.
The need for modeling around the world is huge from architectural models such as houses, hotels, resorts etc to models for kids to play with and even models for such things as car companies so they can see what a prototype looks like before production. Even the model planes you see in the ticket offices of the airline companies are in demand and do you know they cost over $10,000 each?
Model matchsticks may not bring you the kind of returns that other model making will bring you, but there is a very large demand for it. I am surprised at the amount of websites that cater to this hobby and I am also very surprised at the amount of traffic I get on my website from visitors who keep coming back again and again for more information.
Model matchsticks are also very news worthy. A great looking model or piece of matchstick art is regularly featured on the TV or news articles as they are very unique and it normally takes a long time to build them.
So if you are looking for a way to make a story, you may want to consider something like model matchsticks and of course it is a relatively cheap hobby (unless you are going to make a really big model) and it can take up hours of your time so it most certainly will fill in those boring hours when you have nothing to do.
The great thing about model matchsticks is that once you know the basics of cutting and shapes, you really can make anything you want. The standard models are cars and trains etc, but you can make anything you want from small to big and if you search the web you will be given a whole host of ideas. I recommend that you start small first and get bigger as you get more proficient.
So if you want to keep the kids busy without burning the house down and you want to teach them some really great basic skills in modeling and creativity (you can make anything) then I can't think of a much better way than using model matchsticks.
