Terrific basic book on HTML and CSS

Like the other Duckett book on Jquery, this book is a pleasure to read. Most technical books take some intestinal fortitude to slog through the boring parts, and reflect the geeky mentality of their authors. This book is actually pleasant — what makes it unusual is the production quality -it has beautiful type-setting, has a liberal use of color, and the writing is clear. Of course, there is a problem with a book like this — it lacks some of the comprehensiveness of more densely written tomes. Nevertheless, I am very pleased to have such a pleasant way to go over the basics. Sure, everything is available through google, but this book is a lot easier to deal with than a blog.
Well made, Great Information and Great execution!

I have dabbled with HTML and CSS for a while but this book is what really helped me to grasp the harder concepts and to pad my knowledge. The book is meant mostly for beginner though, so if you are already fluent then this might not be for you. Still it could be a nice reference for you. The book starts easy and takes each concept step by step in order to make it as easy as possible for you to learn the content, contains examples almost every page that you can try yourself and tinker with to your hearts content. The author does a great job of getting information across while adding in repetition so that it sticks in your brain. Well made book that I would recommend anyone who is starting out with website building/design, by the time you are done reading it you will have a website up and running. Great product, and great stepping stone to a deeper understanding of web design and development.

I use this book with in combination with “Styling with CSS book”; It is very helpful when you want to create or update your website. Great book to read if you want to do programming creating your website.
Excellent book for any skill-level, but essential for all beginners!
Excellent book for any skill-level, but essential to all beginners! The content is laid out in a very fun fashionable way that will hold the reader’s interest. The content is clear, concise and well-ordered. I once believed that once you’ve seen one HTML+CSS book, you’ve seen them all, but this one is truly one of a kind. The paper quality and design is bar-none a graphical artist’s dream.
A No-Brainer Investment
This book truly helped me understand the fundamentals of websites significantly better than from when I initially got into building websites. It gave me the confidence to provide professional website building services to the public, and an edge over those who may be barely getting into the process.
The HTML Book I Keep Going Back To

This is one of my favorite step by step computer guides. If you know absolutely nothing about HTML, you can work through this book and within the first few chapters begin programming. Learning HTML is like learning a very simple foreign language, there are really not that many “words.” The clear and easy to follow text is abundantly illustrated and very orderly. Individual commands are given a separate page each with specific examples and excellent graphics.

This book is great. I was required to take a website authoring course for my degree plan. The textbook was lenghty and assumed certain things were already known so it had gaps. I ordered this book which broke down each activity and provided coding samples. Using the book, I was able to improve my grades from C-SECTION to B+ during the last few weeks of class.
Great Beginner Guide to HTML and CSS. I continue to refer to it.
This was a fantastic companion to an online college class that I took. It is written and organized clearly and very easy to navigate between chapters. I will continue to use this as a reference. (I had no experience with HTML and CSS prior to taking the class and reading this book.)
Probably one of the best on the market
This book is great. It teaches you from square zero, you really don’t have to know much about computers at all to understand it. It teaches you at the right “gradient” – starting with the basic concepts and then onto the first lesson on writing HTML. Everything is explained clearly before starting on the next lesson. Each lesson has example code.
It is refreshing

This book is beautiful. It is well designed and easy to follow. It was required for my webdesign class in college. It is great for beginners, although it does have some complex points in there that could be a good review for more experienced users.
